GUM TREATMENT AT KREMLIN BICETRE
Periodontology
Periodontal diseases are bacterial (microbial) infections that affect and destroy the tissues that surround and support the teeth (the periodontium). The tissues involved are the gum, the attachment fibers (ligament or periodontium) and the bone that supports the teeth.
Periodontal diseases, along with dental caries, are the main infections of the oral cavity.
Stage 1: Gingivitis
To maintain healthy teeth, it is essential to also ensure the health of your gums and remove subgingival tartar deposits.
Stage 2: Early periodontitis
Untreated inflammation can cause lasting damage to your teeth. To prevent this from happening, we implement appropriate treatments to stop the process and maintain the health of your teeth over the long term.
Stage 3: Moderate periodontitis
Periodontal diseases or periodontitis are bacterial infections that manifest as bleeding gums, receding gums and bone loss around the tooth which can cause tooth mobility.
Stage 4: Advanced periodontitis
Dental plaque and tartar are the triggers of periodontal disease since they serve as a support for the bacteria that cause this phenomenon.
Periodontal diseases can be controlled and stabilized by treatment comprising several phases:
Etiological treatment consists of eliminating plaque and tartar by learning specific oral hygiene techniques, by scaling and root planing (curettage).
Etiological treatment consists of eliminating plaque and tartar by learning specific oral hygiene techniques, by scaling and root planing (curettage).
Once the disease has stabilized, it is imperative to set up regular monitoring and prophylaxis (every 3 to 6 months) to avoid recurrences.
Once periodontal disease is controlled and stabilized, we may have to perform mucogingival surgery.
The gums may have local or extensive retractions, called gingival recessions. These recessions can cause tooth sensitivity and aesthetic problems.
