The Meopa

Meopa, or Equimolar Mixture of Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide, is a medical gas used in dental care to reduce patient anxiety and stress. Composed of equal parts oxygen and nitrous oxide, it acts quickly to provide a feeling of relaxation, while allowing the patient to remain conscious and responsive throughout the treatment.

When is Meopa used?

Meopa is particularly suitable for treating young children or patients suffering from dental phobia. It is also used during treatments requiring optimal patient cooperation, as it significantly reduces feelings of anxiety and pain.

How does a session with Meopa take place?

Before the treatment, a mask is applied to the patient’s face, diffusing the Meopa in a controlled manner. Within a few minutes, a feeling of relaxation is felt, making the treatment more comfortable. The effect of Meopa quickly ceases as soon as the administration stops, allowing the patient to resume their normal activities shortly after the appointment.

Is it suitable for my child?

For particularly anxious children or those requiring complex care, the Meopa is a real asset. Do not hesitate to ask us questions or discuss them during your consultation to assess together if this device is suitable for your child’s needs.

What are the benefits of Meopa?

  • Increased comfort: Reduces stress and fear, making care easier for both patient and practitioner.
  • Safety: Meopa is safe, especially for young children and adult patients, and its effect is rapidly reversible.
  • Effectiveness: Acts in minutes and does not require prior preparation.
